BAU Advanced Microsurgery Course
Learn advanced skills in microsurgery with emphasis on hands-on training on in-vivo rat models.
BAU Advanced Microsurgery Course
This three-day advanced microsurgery course, including two days of in-vivo training in rat models, is designed for beginner microsurgeons such as residents or young specialists in all areas of surgery requiring microsurgery who have mastered the basic microsurgical skills.
The course is organized in the Prof. Rhoton Laboratory at Bahçeşehir University Istanbul/Türkiye. This lab is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest microsurgical tools and technologies, replicating real-world surgical environments.
The course has a well structured program starting from exercises on silicone materials and gradually increasing the technical difficulty to perform end-to-end, end-to-side, and side-to-side anastomoses on in-vitro models using chicken arteries and veins on the first day. From the second day on we start performing exercises on in-vivo rat models.
Short presentations preceding the hands-on training will support the practical work. We have chosen to limit the number of participants to 15 to ensure individualized instruction and teaching with emphasis on manual skills.
