Antwerp Basic Microsurgery Course
Learn the key skills in microsurgery with emphasis on hands-on training.
Antwerp Basic Hands-on Course
Microsurgical techniques have gained importance in recent years and are becoming the gold standard in various fields of surgery such as neurosurgery, ENT surgery, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, urology and gynecology. The more delicate and sophisticated a surgical technique is, the more it requires training and education.
The purpose of this intensive two days hands-on course is to learn the key skills in microsurgery. These include the efficient use of microsurgical instruments and equipment as well as a clear step-by-step approach to basic techniques.
The course has a well structured program starting from simple exercises and gradually increasing the technical difficulty to perform end-to-end, end-to-side, and side-to-side anastomoses in vitro using chicken arteries and veins. Short presentations preceding the hands-on training will support the practical work.
